چکیده

Cognitive radio systems can utilize dispersed spectrum, and thus such approach is known as dispersed spectrum cognitive radio systems. In this paper, we first provide the performance analysis of such systems over fading channels. We derive the average symbol error probability of dispersed spectrum cognitive radio systems for two cases, where the channel for each frequency diversity band experiences independent and dependent Nakagami-m fading. In addition, the derivation is extended to include the effects of modulation type and order by considering M-ary phase-shift keying (M-PSK) and M-ary quadrature amplitude modulation MQAM) schemes. We then consider the deployment of such cognitive radio systems in an ad hoc fashion. We consider an ad hoc dispersed spectrum cognitive radio network, where the nodes are assumed to be distributed in three dimension (3D). We derive the effective transport capacity considering a cubic grid distribution. Numerical results are presented to verify the theoretical analysis and show the performance of such networks.

Attack-Aware Cooperative Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio Networks under Byzantine Attack

Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) is an effective approach to overcome the impact of multi-path fading and shadowing issues. The reliability of CSS can be severely degraded under Byzantine attack, which may be caused by either malfunctioning sensing terminals or malicious nodes. Almost, the previous studies have not analyzed and considered the attack in their models. The present study introduc...

A Unified Performance Analysis of the Effective Capacity of Dispersed Spectrum Cognitive Radio Systems over Generalized Fading Channels

The effective capacity (EC) has been recently established as a rigorous alternative to the classical Shannon’s ergodic capacity since it accounts for the delay constraints imposed by future wireless applications and their impact on the overall system performance. This paper develops a novel unified approach for the EC analysis of dispersed spectrum cognitive radio (CR) with equal gain combining...

Spectrum Sensing Data Falsification Attack in Cognitive Radio Networks: An Analytical Model for Evaluation and Mitigation of Performance Degradation

Cognitive Radio (CR) networks enable dynamic spectrum access and can significantly improve spectral efficiency. Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) exploits the spatial diversity between CR users to increase sensing accuracy. However, in a realistic scenario, the trustworthy of CSS is vulnerable to Spectrum Sensing Data Falsification (SSDF) attack. In an SSDF attack, some malicious CR users deli...

Reactive routing for mobile cognitive radio ad hoc networks

Although more than a decade has passed from the proposal of the Cognitive Radio paradigm, in these years the research has mainly focused on physical and medium access issues, and few recent works focused on the problem of routing in cognitive networks. This paper addresses such a problem by evaluating the feasibility of reactive routing for mobile cognitive radio ad hoc networks. More specifica...
